Edamame is a popular health food – but people on the Paleo diet are often left wondering if it actually meets Paleo standards. The Paleolithic diet has strict standards that do not allow food that humans did not eat during the Paleo era. Our team of Paleo experts took a closer look at Edamame to see if it is approved for the Paleo diet.
Edamame is NOT Paleo safe because it it technically Soy 👎!
Why is Edamame Not Paleo Safe?
Healthy eaters are often surprised to learn the Edamame is not approved to eat on the Paleolithic diet. While these small green beans may seem OK to eat these legumes are technically a Soy product and NOT safe to eat on Paleo.
Edamame, aka twig bean in Japanese, is sometimes included in meals by people that don’t strictly follow the diet. While a few handfuls here and there at a sushi restaurant won’t kill you since it has lower levels of toxins than other Soy products like Soy Beans or Tofu.
