Oat milk is a popular substitute for milk – but is it ok to drink on the Paleo diet?
The Paleo diet is based around the idea of eating like our ancient ancestors, who didn’t have access to modern food products. This means that grains, dairy and processed foods are all off the menu.
So is oat milk paleo? Is it a healthy choice for Paleo followers?
Oat milk is made from oats, water and a small amount of oil. It is low in fat and calories, and contains high levels of fiber, potassium and magnesium. It also has a creamy texture and a slightly sweet flavor.
Oat milk is not technically paleo, as it is made from grains. However, many people choose to drink it on the paleo diet as it is a healthy and nutritious choice. Oat milk is high in protein and contains all nine essential amino acids. It is also gluten-free, making it a good choice for people with gluten intolerance or coeliac disease.
Why Is Oat Milk Not Paleo Friendly?
There is no definitive answer to this question – it depends on your own personal interpretation of the paleo diet! Some paleo followers allow oat milk because it is paleo in terms of food products. Others don’t drink it because they believe paleo means eating what paleolithic man ate – and he didn’t tend to have access to oats!
Cows’ milk is definitely not paleo, because our paleolithic ancestors would not have had access to cows. They lived primarily on meats, fruits and vegetables. There are also health benefits associated with dairy-free milk substitutes that make them paleo friendly – including oat milk .
The key factor when deciding whether or not to drink oat milk on the paleo diet is whether you think paleolithic man would have had access to grocery stores in their time period. Though there are many health benefits of oat milk, it is not technically paleo. If you are following a strict paleo diet, then you may want to avoid drinking it. However, if you are happy to include some non-paleo foods in your diet, oat milk is a great option!

Paleo diet followers believe that paleolithic man would not have had access to oats, and therefore oat milk is not paleo. Others believe that the paleo diet is simply about eating like our ancestors did – which means being able to drink oat milk.
Whether or not you choose to drink oat milk on the paleo diet will depend on your own personal beliefs, so there really isn’t a right or wrong answer!
